Life’s Ups and Downs

Life is amazing. And then it's awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breath in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale d

Your life is full of ups and downs.  Sometimes you will have energy, and sometimes you will be so exhausted you can barely drag yourself out of bed.  Sometimes you will be happy, and other times you will be upset or sad.  You may be sick, or you may be healthy.  Sometimes you will be productive, and feel on top of the world.  Other times you will feel like you are unable to accomplish anything.

This is life.

Those who have been sick, know the relief that health brings.  Those who have felt depressed, know the weight that is lifted when you finally escape.  Those who work hard for a goal know the victory of finally achieving that goal.

The key to happiness is learning to be thankful for the things that we do have and getting through the things that are hard.  In all of these ups and downs, the most important aspect of it all is to look at the big picture.  I see it as a big squiggle.

This would be a representation of someone’s life.  As they are trying to better themselves, the line moves up.  When they mess up, the line moves down, and sometimes we hover, stuck in the same position for a little while.  We will all make improvements, and we will all mess up.  The important thing, is that the line continues to move upwards.

It’s OK to have a bad day.  It’s OK to feel stuck.  Just know that if you keep trying, eventually you will start moving up again.  Don’t give up on YOU.  Don’t give up on your happiness.  Keep going, and you will succeed.  My brother-in-law showed me this awesome video.  It may or may not have made me cry.  No one is admitting anything here… haha.
